THE macOS Catalina 10.15 They are already with us, and to keep up with the great launch of the day, Apple has also updated its professional video editor. And, besides taking advantage of the new system, the version 10.4.7 of Final Cut Pro X also comes to take full advantage of the new Mac Pro It's from Pro Display XDR possibly signaling that the new equipment from Ma, promised for the end of the year, should arrive soon.

Among the main news, we have a new engine API based Metal, which gives the publisher a nice performance boost on all Macs. Ma notes that Final Cut Pro X will have speeds about 35% faster on iMac Pro, while newer 15-inch MacBooks Pro will see the publisher operate up to 20% faster.

The biggest gain, however, is dedicated to the new Mac Pro. The new version of FCPX takes advantage of up to 28 (!) CPU cores simultaneously; This allows the editor to render up to 2.9x faster compared to the 12-core Mac Pro “trash can”. Content transcoding, in turn, is 3.2x faster!

On Ma's new professional machine, publishers can simultaneously play up to 16 4K ProRes 422 content sources, or three 8K ProRes RAW content sources. The Final Cut Pro X upgrade also brings full support for Pro Display XDR, with its 1,000,000: 1 contrast ratio and extreme dynamic range; The publisher supports up to three Ma monitors simultaneously two displaying the software interface and a third as a 6K reference monitor.

FCPX 10.4.7 also introduces support for multiple graphics cards, which is good news not only for future owners of the new Mac Pro, but also for all Mac users using eGPUs. The update also takes advantage of one of the major new features of macOS Catalina: here we have support for Sidecar, which allows publishers to connect a iPad Mac to display, on the secondary screen, a preview of the content being produced or an extension of the software interface.

Other enhancements to the new version of Final Cut Pro X include enhanced HDR video support, with improved masking and range isolation tools. The software is for sale by $ 1,100 Mac App Store, and can be upgraded for free by those who previously purchased it.
