Filmmaker compares iPhone XS with $ 10,000 Canon camera

Such comparisons are not new, but I always find them very interesting. This time, the filmmaker Ed Gregory put a iPhone XS side by side with a camera Canon C200 which, with a good lens, costs around $ 10,000.

For the vast majority of people, the initial comparison in the video above may leave doubts as to which camera is which. Obviously, Gregory later makes a more accurate analysis of certain aspects of the images captured by the iPhone that are * quite * below Canon's after all, no one here is daring to say that a smartphone (whatever) could replace such a professional camcorder.

Overall, however, it's amazing to see how far we've come. Without an accurate analysis, it is already a little difficult to determine the source of the images and Apple clearly did a sensational job on the camera of the iPhones XS / XS Max in terms of dynamic range.

In at least one aspect, the smartphone is unbeatable: it fits in your pants pocket and, therefore, will always be with you when you want to capture * that * moment. In addition, what you capture with it is practically "ready to use", while Canon's RAW files need to go through a good deal of editing.

So, did you guess which camera was there at the beginning of the video? 😉
