Files Go: Google promises file transfer four times faster | Managers

Files Go, Google's app for managing Android storage, started sending files up to four times faster. The platform now chooses the fastest transfer method available on the smartphone, such as Wi-Fi Direct at 5 GHz, reaching speeds of up to 490 Mb / s.

The average time to connect two nearby cell phones has been reduced to five seconds, according to the technology giant. The improvements were introduced with this Monday's update (25), which also added a new tab for offline document sharing and other functions.

The application does not use the 4G network. The connection is made through a Wi-Fi access point, which is why sharing is restricted to nearby phones. It is worth remembering that, according to an OpenSignal study, the fastest 4G in Brazil can send files with an average speed of 9.28 Mb / s.

The new "Share" tab, in turn, was developed to make the process of sending and receiving files easier. It is in the lower left corner of the main screen and can be found on all smartphones compatible with the app ie Android 5.0 Lollipop or later.

Google has included a method to verify that the user is connecting with the right person, in addition to using encryption on all transfers to provide more security.
