Fiat Chrysler CEO says Apple should forget the idea of building its own car

Ever since the rumors about the “Apple Car” started to catch fire, we have occasionally seen executives from major automakers making comments mostly, of course, contrary to the idea.

Now it was time for Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA):

If they have any desire to build a car, I advise them to lie down and wait for that feeling to pass. () Diseases like this come and go, you will recover from them, they are not lethal.

Speaking to reporters during the Geneva International Motor Show (Sua), Marchionne said he believes that if Apple is going ahead with the project, it should enter into a partnership with a major automaker (preferably FCA in his head, of course) in instead of venturing into a “complex business”.

FCA, by the way, lost in the middle of last year its senior vice president of quality for Apple, Doug Betts.
