After the tragedy that happened due to heavy rains in the Rio de Janeiro Serrana region in 2011, a group of developers came up with the idea of creating software to predict natural disasters and issue alerts to the population. The app is called Fi-Guardian and was the winner of the Fi-Ware Challenge in the Smart Cities category held at Campus Party 2014. The Nova Friburgo group took home the prize of 75 thousand euros, about R $ 250 thousand reais.
After gathering the information from the responsible bodies, the second step is to provide population alerts through mobile apps. The user can also, if he needs help, trigger the Civil Defense by his own application.
