Famous macOS utility, Yoink comes to iOS as a gesture-based digital shelf

O Yoink was born six years ago as a utility for Mac that filled a very important gap: making the process of dragging files or other elements between full-screen applications or Mission Control screens easier. Over time and the evolution of Apple's own desktop operating system, the application has been incorporating other functions until reaching its current phase, in which it presents itself as a tool that offers a “temporary place” for your application files and contents.

Now how iOS 11 and his profoundly enhanced skills of the famous touch and drag gesture (drag & drop), Yoink is also coming to Ma's mobile operating system with a similar proposal: to be a kind of “virtual shelf”, so that you can temporarily store almost any type of element files, pieces of text, images, app contents or more just by dragging them to your interface.

Yoink - Improved Drag and Drop app icon

As expected, Yoink for iOS works best on the iPad, where the drag & drop has broad support. It works both as an application in Slide Over as in the split window scheme and accepts almost any type of element, including those from the clipboard or in multiple quantities if you drag three images to the app, for example, it will create a folder with them for later interaction. Links saved on Yoink have built-in preview and places can also be viewed without leaving the app with an Apple Maps preview, for example.

On the iPhone, tap and drag capabilities are not available, but Yoink also has an extension on the system's share menu so you can simply share the desired content with the app for the same functionality. The feature that captures elements from the clipboard is also present on the smartphone.

Yoink is not yet available in Portuguese (there are currently only six languages, including English and German), but it has a simple and intuitive interface; that is, the language barrier will be easily overcome by anyone. It obviously requires iOS 11 or higher and is available on the App Store for the promotional price of $ 3, usually $ 5. It is worth checking!
