Facebook update for iOS fixes problem of excessive battery consumption

There is no doubt that the biggest complaint regarding the iPhone in relation to its battery, but many people do not realize that the problem is often not in the device or in iOS, but in the installed / used apps.

Recently, one of the most popular apps out there suffered from a chronic problem that started to be solved today, with its version 42: the Facebook.

Ari Grant, Facebook's engineering manager, explained in a post that the update fixes two problems, the first related to an unnecessary repetitive process in the network code that caused an exaggerated CPU consumption, and the second (the most serious) that made the app. consuming battery often after the user watches a video and exits the app. In some cases, the application understood that there was still audio to be played in the background, even if silent, which increased battery consumption.

These two fixes are, according to Grant, only the first of others that his team has been studying to improve battery consumption by the Facebook app. He also reiterated that the app's geolocation features (the first thing people usually disable to save battery life) have nothing to do with recent user complaints about it.
