Facebook publishes list of pages that were excluded by the spread of fake news

Facebook recently removed several pages and profiles that have been accused of spreading false news. After a while, Reuters said that much of the ban had hit a network used by the Free Brazil Movement (MBL).

Then, the Federal Public Ministry of the State of Gois, with such polemics, requested that Facebook deliver a list with all profiles and pages excluded and the justification for each case. The social network fulfilled the request and handed over the report to the MPF.

Facebook, in the statement delivered to the body, did not justify each case, but issued a general statement regarding the exclusion of all. According to the social network, the main argument used is "direct violation" of the social network guidelines.

In addition, as a justification, Facebook also includes the use of false names in some profiles and also the dissemination of suspicious links in order to mislead users about the source of the content. According to the social network, everything used to "deceive people in an attempt to encourage shares, likes or clicks".

Through its website, the Public Ministry released a public list containing all the pages that were excluded, the profiles, in this case, had their names hidden. The entire list can be accessed through this link, and it is possible to see the names of some political websites used by MBL to disseminate news.

Among the names appear the Jornallivre, The National Diary and Political Skepticism. To complete the list, there are also pages of the group's branches in the cities of So Jos dos Campos, Taubat, Jacara and Caraguatatuba. In any case, most of the pages are even linked to issues related to politics.
