December really wasn't a memorable month for apps. Dropbox announced the end of Mailbox and Carousel, Facebook closed its “Creative Lab” and now the Evernote has just revealed that it is discontinuing the iOS version of Skitch.
The application remains available for download until January 22, but does not receive any more updates.
Skitch was originally purchased by Evernote in August 2011, when it was only available for Mac. Our original review of it from years ago, published in early 2008. In December 2011 the app arrived on the iPad, becoming compatible with iPhones as well. / iPods touch in its 2.0 version. In late 2012, Skitch's co-founder spoke about the future of the app promising several new features.
According to Evernote, the reason for the end of it is basically consolidation of functions since most of them have already been incorporated into the main app itself. In addition to iOS, Skitch development is also being abandoned for Windows, Windows Touch and Android, but the Mac version remains standing:
