The lack of HDDs caused by the floods in Thailand began to affect not only Apple, but several manufacturers in the market. And this scenario made Evercore analyst Rob Cihra drop a note to investors on the subject. For him, Apple is very well positioned for two reasons: 1. it was one of the first to move, taking an advantageous position in the supply chain; and 2. she is the maker of the MacBook Air, the most popular SSD-equipped notebook out there!
Cihra also states that the lack of HDDs will generate a runaway race among copiers that make Windows PCs, to see who is successful with a notebook with specifications similar to the MacBook Air, the famous Ultrabooks, which have not yet taken off (read more: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5).
The analyst also expects an update to the Air line in the first half of 2012, perhaps with the arrival of the rumored 15-inch model.
