Earth Day 2020 is the interactive Doodle theme displayed on Google's homepage on Wednesday (22). The animation celebrates the 50th anniversary of the nature protection movement and gives access to a game in which the user must control a bee in its work of pollinating flowers, in awareness of the animal's important role in the preservation of ecosystems. Doodle is being shown all over the world, and can be played on your computer and mobile browser.

In the game, the user controls the small bee with the cursor, and must collect the plenum contained in five different types of flowers to distribute in their respective empty seedlings, planting new colored flowers in the forest. During the walk with the animal, it is possible to view interesting facts about the pollination work carried out by the bees. The game is infinite and allows the user to play for as long as he wants.

Doodle was created by designer Gerben Steenks and engineers Jacob Howcroft and Stephanie Gu, members of the Google Doodles creative team. The initiative also counted on the collaboration of the environmental institution The Honeybee Conservancy, which works in defense of education, dissemination, research and protection of bees, based in New York.
The most fun challenge for this Doodle was to generate an infinite world. The player can continue pollinating forever, so we need to create an environment that was randomly generated, but that still looked natural. The optimization of our code to guarantee the inclusion of all this content was definitely a challenge! We hope that people understand the importance of bees to the land and humanity, explained a representative of the Google team.

In addition, according to Google, some GIFs created by the company for Earth Day 2020 are being made available today on the Gboard keyboard, the Tenor GIF keyboard and social applications. To do this, just search for the term GoogleDoodles in the applications.
