Due to coronavirus, OnePlus 8 line launch event will be online

The coronavirus outbreak has affected not only the health of infected people, but also the industry around the world. In Brazil, for example, Samsung and Motorola temporarily stopped manufacturing smartphones due to a lack of components, while in China, several companies are opting for online launch events.

That was the case with Xiaomi, which announced the Mi 10 line last week through a live broadcast. Other manufacturers are also expected to choose online events, such as Redmi, Realme and iQOO, for example. Now, that same decision was made by OnePlus.

Pete Lau, CEO of the Chinese brand, revealed that the company will not be able to host a major "common" launch event in the coming months. For this reason, the executive asked fans for tips on how to hold a creative online conference.

CEO Pete Lau's Statement

It is worth remembering that this is not the first time that OnePlus has opted for such an event. In June 2017, the company held a live broadcast to announce the OnePlus 5 and, a few years ago, did the same at the event dedicated to OnePlus 2.

Unfortunately, there is still no confirmed date for the launch of the OnePlus 8 line, but it is speculated that the new models will be made official in late March or April.

Leaks indicate that we will have the Snapdragon 865 processor, the best Qualcomm chipset at the moment, and a screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. In addition, the OnePlus 8 Pro can bring IP68 certification, guaranteeing water and dust resistance, and support charging without thread.
