Due to a lawsuit against Beats, Apple suspends Monster's MFi license

At the beginning of the year we reported that Monster, a former Beats partner, sued Apple's subsidiary today, alleging that Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre (co-founders of Beats) committed fraud by marketing products without Monster's participation since she would be the inventor of the technology behind the famous headphones that, in a way, changed the market. Because the Apple responded to the process. And in a harsh way, as reported today by the Wall Street Journal.

Monster has been manufacturing accessories for Apple devices since 2005. Since the beginning of May, the company can no longer manufacture accessories such as Lightning cables and headphones under the MFi seal (Made for iPod / iPhone / iPad). Sales of current inventories may occur until September, but after that, we will no longer see Monster products endorsed by Apple, at least not in the current scenario.

Monster general counsel, David Tognotti, said that Noreen Krall, Apple's chief legal officer, informed him that the deal was ending on May 5 as the relationship between the two companies was no longer "mutually beneficial" on account of the Monster process. According to Mr. Tognotti, Ms. Krall said the lawsuit would “destroy the working relationship” between Apple and Monster.

According to Tognotti, Monster will be severely hampered by this decision by Apple since, currently, 900 of the 4,000 products it markets are part of the MFi program on account of the partnership, Monster has passed on about $ 12 million to Apple since 2008. Still according to him, this decision by Ma "shows a side of Apple that consumers don't often see", saying that "Apple can be an intimidator".

Really complicated to be a partner of a company that is suing you. On the other hand, even today Samsung supplier to Apple even with the two fighting legal battles in several countries. The difference here is just one: while Samsung is "essential" to Ma's plans, Monster is not. But it gets ugly for Apple, that's no doubt
