In November, the first step in the migration process of Digital Terrestrial Television took place, with the change of frequency in Odivelas, the parishes of Lumiar, Carnide and Santa Clara in Lisbon, as well as Encosta do Sol, in Amadora, a set of locations that were part of the pilot test. Following the timetable provided by ANACOM, the next phase will start this Friday, February 7, at the Sines transmitter, and soon after, on February 10, the emitters from the Algarve, going from south to north of the country, in which the crucial process of changing the spectrum of DTT to allow the arrival of 5G.
Like the first change, ANACOM warns Sines users that the television signal will be lost (the screen will go black), simply by re-tuning the DTT decoder equipment or box. The service will continue to remain free, as until now, with the regulator's warning being reinforced that it is not necessary to change the television, antenna or decoder, nor to pay for the subscription of new services to the telecommunications operators.
As with the change in November, ANACOM will have the toll-free number 800 102 002 available to users, available every day between 9 am and 10 pm, for those who have questions or need free technical support to tune in to the TV.
The regulator also informed that it will disclose information related to changes in DTT through a letter and a leaflet delivered to everyone's home and that it summarizes the relevant information to adapt to this process of change. Regarding the alteration of the network of issuers in the Algarve region, the distribution was made between the 24th and the 30th of January, with 304 thousand letters / leaflets distributed, it refers in the statement.
