Instagram begins testing in Brazil to hide the number of likes in photos and videos from this Wednesday (17). The experiment does not mean that Instagram has no more liked users can check the likes of your own posts, but followers will no longer have access to this data.

According to a statement, Instagram's no-like quiz is an attempt to lessen the atmosphere of competition among followers and to help people focus more on telling their stories and not just waiting for their likes. The experiment takes place on the iPhone (iOS) app and Android phones with some social network users. That is, the new Instagram update will not be available for all accounts.

Instagram definitely did not end the likes: the interactivity function to continue on the social network. Users can like photos and videos as they wish, but they will no longer have access to the likes of other accounts. Each profile will be able to view the amount of likes they received only on their own posts.
As this is a feature under test, Instagram must look at the experiment's reception to find out if withdrawing likes can really change the behavior of users. So there is no guarantee that Instagram likes will be removed forever.

The test has been applied in Canada since May. The company said the results are being positive, but expansion in other countries, such as Brazil, is precisely a way to more clearly assess whether the new feature is really valid.
With the end of spreading likes, Instagram also intends to counter applications that sell followers and likes to celebrities and digital influencers, making the interaction between users more real.
On Twitter, users' opinions regarding Instagram updates were mixed. Some approved of the change, while others were surprised by the absence of the likes.
