The Instagram app is closing itself on some Android and iPhone (iOS) phones on Tuesday (16). According to user reports on Twitter, the problem happens when trying to access the camera function in Stories and also when using the feed. According to website Downdetector, which monitors failed Internet services, the instability started around noon and has so far peaked at 1,600 complaints. The bug mainly affects the United States, Brazil, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The web version of Instagram works normally.

Update (20h): In a note to dnetc, Instagram stated that the bug was fixed and regretted the failure. Today some people may have had trouble accessing Instagram. The problem has already been resolved and the platform is now 100% back for all users, we apologize for any inconvenience.

For some people, it is not possible to open the app by clicking on the Instagram icon, the program closes automatically. Others, however, can see the photos from the feed for a few seconds, but soon a black screen appears and the app terminates. There are also comments from users who can't see Stories or make new posts. No error messages displayed.

This is the third time the photo network is unstable in July. Last11, users saw the error message "Action blocked". On day 3, the network had trouble uploading photos.
