Documents confirm that Apple is responsible for the registration of the trademark “AirPods”

There are still some differences over how to be the iPhone 7, but one thing is practically certain: the device should not come with a headphone jack. With that, we have three options:

  1. Apple put an adapter in the iPhone 7 case so that the EarPods can be used by the Lightning connector;
  2. The EarPods that come with the iPhone 7 come with a Lightning connector;
  3. Apple launches a new Bluetooth headset to accompany the iPhone 7.

In fact there is still a fourth option, which would be that Apple would simply continue to distribute EarPods along with the iPhone and force us to purchase an adapter to be sold in the company's stores. However, I refuse to believe this scenario. With that in mind, I would say that the best of all worlds would be option 3 for a simple reason: I hate adapters, so option 1 for me is the worst. In option 2, the new headphones will not be compatible with Macs, which will be pretty bad. Because of this, option 3 becomes the best since we will have a headset compatible with any Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod and Apple Watch.

We have already seen a very interesting concept of this possible phone, affectionately called by the designer responsible for creating "AirPods". Behold, now, documents of registration of such mark have appeared that prove: Ma is even working on a wireless headset (Bluetooth).

In fact, there were already registrations of the brand “AirPods” made by Entertainment in Flight LLC, one of those front companies that Apple uses to make registrations without raising many suspicions was it, for example, that registered the brands like “iPad”, “ CarPlay ”and“ iWatch ”(all, with the exception of the latter, ended up being used by Apple).

Now, however, there has been a description of what the brand covers (obviously, wireless headsets). In addition, the document was signed by Jonathan Brown, who would be the manager of Entertainment in Flight. THE MacRumors so he decided to connect the ends and discovered that there is a lawyer with the same name who works for Apple. Although the name / surname is quite common abroad, the site investigated in depth and found a 2010 process (PDF) involving the company Rambus.

Comparison of subscriptions

At that time, Brown was a lawyer for Rambus and signed the document. Then it was enough to compare the signatures and shout bingo! to see that it is the same person (or so, we are talking about two people with very similar signatures, really)!

THE MacRumors he also notes that this change in the trademark registration took place one day before the six-month period to respond to the request for clarification, indicating that Apple is still interested in protecting the name while extending the review process as long as possible taking into account that the product is not yet so close to the launch.

It remains to be seen whether the “AirPods” would even come in the iPhone 7 case or would be a part accessory, sold separately.
