Do you know the secret codes of Android?

USSD codes are not just secret commands that serve advanced users. They also bring functions and shortcuts that can be useful for everyone. In this article we show the most important codes and the options they activate. If you know Android's secret codes, you can reset your device, discover your hidden camera information, back up your precious data and more. Check it out below.

The secret codes for Android

With a slightly altered shape, for example "* #" or "##", Android also offers a code system. They directly access the operating system and do not use the mobile network to get answers. In addition, your device reacts shortly after all the code is entered, and you do not need to click on the green symbol of the phone as if you were making a call.

These codes are updated regularly as new versions of the Android software are released, and some manufacturers have their own additional special codes. Some codes are operator specific, so they do not work on all devices. So if your phone doesn't respond to a code, don't think that something went wrong or that you found a defect, just go ahead and find another one.

Attention! These codes should be used with caution. They can cause your phone to lose data or permanently damage it. There are technical jargon words that appear on the menus after typing some of these codes, which means that if you are not sure what you are doing by checking other sources and comments on forums, it is best not to try them out. Functionality depends on model and manufacturer.

These codes are mostly universal and should work on Android devices, regardless of the manufacturer. However, there may still be operator restrictions on certain codes, so not everyone is guaranteed to work.

USSD codes (Operators)

These are not the most secret, but they are not so well known. USSD codes are commands for controls and unstructured services. The English acronym stands for Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (unstructured supplementary service data). They send a signal over the mobile network and receive a response such as when, for example, you want to know how much of your prepaid credit is left.

To insert the codes, just enter your Android phone application and enter them where the dial numbers are usually placed. The most common USSD codes start with an asterisk (*) or the tic-tac-toe symbol (#), and also end with an asterisk.

They change frequently and the codes vary from operator to operator. Here are some that you can try for some of the main operators in Brazil, in addition to links to more operator specific codes:
