Disney + arrives this week in Europe to "brighten" the isolation due to the coronavirus

As planned, the Disney + streaming service will arrive in Europe this Tuesday, March 24, although in a restricted group of countries: the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland. France was initially on the first front, but Disney postponed its launch for two weeks, at the request of the French government itself, due to the coronavirus. In Portugal the service is only expected to arrive in the summer.

According to Reuters, European subscribers will have access to the service, but with reduced image quality, temporarily (at least in the next 30 days), in line with the European Commission's request for streaming platforms not to clog the network of internet. Especially with a strong adhesion to the Disney service.

Previously, the EC proposed Netflix a reduction in quality, abandoning high definition, especially in the hours of greatest demand. But the request was not only directed to companies and platforms, users were also warned to assume responsible use, whether in the unnecessary use of the internet, or to choose low content resolutions.

Facebook also responded to the request, deciding to reduce the bitrate of videos from the social network and also from Instagram. The idea is to lower the weight of traffic generated by these social networks, given that telecommunications companies are dealing with some bandwidth constraints, which can cause some complications for users.

In Portugal, telecommunications operators have joined efforts to reinforce network coverage. MEO, NOS and Vodafone offer 10 GB of additional data to their customers, and the subscription of sports channels for a month. They also left a list of measures taken, indefinitely, to mitigate the effect of the pandemic on telecommunications.
