The definition of Mojo Lens contact lenses is 4 thousand times better than any virtual reality glasses
Have you thought about having âsmart eyesâ? What if I say you won't even need new glasses for this to work? Because this is the startup's proposal Mojo Vision, that creating what they call âthe first smart contact lenses" from the market.
The product, called Mojo Lens, uses âmicroelectronics and a small screen to share critical informationâ and a way to improve one of the human senses. In practice, you will have directions when walking on the street or even lines of text projected right in your eyes, when making a presentation we agree, an easy way to cheat next to a well prepared PowerPoint.
At specs also impress, as the screen embedded in the lens simply densest display ever made, with 2 million pixels per inch (ppi), which is 4 thousand times more than any virtual reality glasses on the market today.
Contact lenses x R.A. viewers
O wearable augmented reality has as main objective to leave you with your hands free, improving your focus to perform actions without having to bother with paraphernalia. On the product's own website they sell well, with a page of scroll interactive where we can read âif you can see the street ahead, improve your vision and see the worldâ eye to eye â? (âŠ) Tomorrow is here â.
And they have a clear point: headsets augmented reality are not discreet. Certainly a lens would be more viable, in addition to you probably being more effective in the task of being taken seriously (whether in social or professional environments). And Mojo also explains that the data they collect is private, because "whatever you decide to do with Mojo Lens must belong solely and exclusively to you".
In addition to entertainment, another objective is to bring technology to those with some vision impairment, be it children, adults or the elderly. To give you an idea, an example of improvement would be to design what you see, but with better contrast and lighting adjustments being just a few examples, not currently functional in the prototype. The partnership with Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, a Californian organization specializing in the area, is sure to help with these goals.
Very Black Mirror
9 years ago, the series Black Mirror (currently a brand of Netflix) already imagined the concept of âsmart eyesâ in its first season. The episode âThe Entire History of Youâ, Slightly different from such lenses, shows a device that would be located in your ear, that would talk to your eyes making them intelligent. It is a way to imagine how smart lenses can be used in practice, recording your day-to-day life, with the power to repeat. J imagined being able to take screenshots anything you saw?
If the lenses are really smart, we can still have existing products as a reference of its limits: in addition to improving reality, we can project our vision on a television or transfer our experiences to the cloud, as we already do with smartphones. In the series we see the positive and negative sides of it, but it's okay if you want to "see" only the typical part of this whole story.
Unfortunately, there is still no date for contact lenses to go on sale, however, just see to believe: Mojo Vision has already raised no less than 100 million dollars in investments for the project. And what would you do with smart contact lenses?
