DigiTimes: chances are great that Apple will launch a dual-core smartphone soon

Rumors published today by DigiTimes reinforce the possibility that the next iPhone will use a new multi-core processor. According to industry sources, Apple, Research In Motion and Sony Ericsson will soon launch smartphones dual-core, in the same way as LG and Motorola.

Vendor options should not be lacking, as NVIDIA, Qualcomm, Samsung, Texas Instruments and Broadcom already offer solutions for multi-core processors targeting mobile devices.

Rumors about the use of a new architecture on the iPhone 5 processor are already starting to build up consistently (1, 2, 3), so that so much smoke can only have two plausible origins: or fire, and we'll see iGadgets much more powerful this year, or a moral bomb, and we will end up very disappointed.
