DHL Parcelcopter Flies 59km Autonomously in "Future Delivery" Testing

The drone DHL Parcelcopter successfully completed a testing phase where he traveled 7 times a day on a 59km africa. The aircraft is described by the company as the "future of deliveries" and has completed its entire journey autonomously.

The current 4.0 version of the drone, which can carry a load of up to 5.8kg while flying at a top speed of up to 150km / h with a range of 99km.

However, if you are carrying your maximum weight, the Parcelcopter has this flight distance reduced to 45km.

Its rotors are tilting, allowing for vertical takeoffs and landings. Once in the air, the aircraft can still place itself in a more fixed, more energy efficient wing mode.

In tests, the drone delivered medicine to a hospital in the Ukerewe Island, located in the southeastern part of Vitria Lake, at Tanzania. Parcelcopter was looking for medicines from a warehouse in the city of Mwanza, in Malawi.

In total, DHL Parcelcopter 4.0 made more than 180 takeoffs and landings, flew a total of 2,199km and spent about 2,000 minutes in the air.
