Deutsche Bank analysts halved the PC market's growth estimates for early 2011, now projected to 4% over the first half. According to them, sales are below expectations due to the success of new tablets, such as the iPad 2 and the Motorola XOOM.
Because of this, analysts raised their estimates for the tablet market in 2011. Deutsche Bank believes it should reach 45 million units sold by the end of the year, against 40 million projected in the past few weeks.
About 35 million tablets sold during the year are expected to be iPads. The strength of Apple's product is having a strong negative impact on users' interest in a traditional computer: in a Deutsche Bank interview with investors, 30% already see the iPad as a viable replacement.
