To date, only smartphones and other smaller devices support wireless charging technology. But thanks to a newly announced partnership between Dell and the Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP), the technology will reach ultrabooks.

Together, the companies created the computer-specific Rezence standard. The new wireless charging capability will power 20 to 50 watts batteries, similar to those found in Ultrabooks. According to A4WP, it is possible for mobile devices to be charged via the computer just by placing them on the laptop case.

The development of magnetic resonance technology will enhance the user's experience of wireless charging, making it more affordable, "said Glen Robson, VP of Dell Technology.

Dell's wireless charging product launches are not yet foreseen, but A4WP will showcase its latest projects at MWC 2014, which starts this Monday, the 24th in Barcelona. And you, what do you think of companies that bet on the development of this technology?
