"Delivery to the Neighbor" is the new modality of the Post Office

Imagine this scenario: you make an online purchase of some important product, and when you follow the tracking code, you realize that your order will be delivered on a day when there is no one at home.

Fortunately, there is no need to cancel your appointment to receive it, as the Post Office has announced a new method called "Delivery to the Neighbor" that, as its name suggests, allows the postman to leave the package at the next house.

According to the Correios, this option was created after it was frequently suggested by customers. In fact, if we stop to think, it makes sense even for the company, since delivering to the neighbor, the Post Office can avoid extra costs with making a new delivery attempt.

Mail Order

Those who are interested in using this modality, need only indicate on the address label that their neighbor is authorized to receive the parcel if the recipient is absent, placing the neighbor's property number.

Despite not generating additional costs or changing the delivery time, the new option has some rules. The Post Office warns that the modality is only available for shipments via Sedex or PAC. In addition, only standardized labels are accepted.

There is another restriction that needs to be taken into account: the neighbor can only be up to two spaces to the right or left of the addressee's address. The house at the front is also accepted by the service. Who lives in a building can indicate any apartment.

In addition to this novelty, the Post Office also announced a small change in tracking: now customers can check the expected delivery date of national parcels. At the moment, the resource is only available over the internet, but soon it will arrive at the Correios app.
