Dark Sky, purchased by Apple, gets an extra month of operation on Android and the web

At the end of March, we reported that Apple had bought the company Dark Sky – creator of the eponymous weather app – and that, with this, the software version for Android, as well as its web tools, would be discontinued on July 1st.

Behold, the company updated app users on this support, saying that it was extended until the day August 1st – therefore, an “extra” month of life was gained.

Therefore, as of August it will no longer be possible to use the app on Android devices. According to Dark Sky, users with an active subscription at the time support is terminated will receive a full refund.

In addition, the weather forecasting resources, maps and other options for the web, available on the Dark Sky website, will also be unavailable from the 1st of August.

The company previously said that its API will continue to work until the end of 2021, but no new subscriptions to it will be accepted. This will terminate access to platform data by third parties, such as websites and apps.

For iOS, everything will be kept as is; it is worth remembering, however, that the Dark Sky app is not available on the Brazilian App Store.
