Customized Mac Pro with Ivy Bridge processor generates great benchmarks running on OS X Lion

While we are all waiting for the arrival of the new line of chips "Ivy Bridge", from Intel, a blog source tonymacx86 said he had access to a preliminary processor unit, installed it on a Mac Pro and ran benchmark on OS X Lion.

Here is the result:

Mac Pro with Ivy Bridge

Running at 3.5GHz, the Core i7-3770K chip (running on a Z77 motherboard, with 8GB of 2,400MHz DDR3 RAM) generated an overall score of 13,453 on the Geekbench. To make the exploit feasible, the person only had to run a kernel modified so that the machine could be started.

It is worth noting that this specific model of the processor may never be implemented on a Mac, since the line is quite extensive and sometimes Apple even manages to enter into exclusive (or at least in advance) supply agreements with Intel.
