The electronic market for used products increased with the economic crisis, reveals a study by Cetelem now released. Europe is no exception.
According to the company, the economic situation has increased the number of sites that allow Internet users to sell second-hand items, with vehicles at the top of the list of the most traded goods worldwide, accounting for 21.7 percent of the market. They are followed by «cultural and leisure products».
In Europe, the preference goes to leisure electronics (9.4 percent), accessories (8.7 percent), clothing (8.7 percent) and housing (7.2 percent).
The list also includes the categories «informatics», «sports», «books, films and music», «collectors items» and «industry and commerce». And all of them have progressed in all countries, says Cetelem.
Experts also anticipate a growth of more than a third for products such as furniture or household appliances, which did not used to be among the best sellers due to logistical reasons that have been reduced over time.
EBay continues to be the most used medium for buying and selling used products, with more than 70 million active users worldwide today. Half are located outside the USA, particularly in Europe.
The information now released is based on data collected until December 2009.
