COVID: FCT will support 1.5 million euros in R&D projects that respond to the needs of the NHS

Support research and development (R&D) projects and initiatives already underway or to be developed and that respond to the needs of the NHS. this is the main objective of the new line of exceptional financing that the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) launched this Tuesday in collaboration with the Agency for Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation (AICIB). The initiative aims to be a response to the pandemic COVID-19 and the first application deadline is at 5 pm on the next April 5, with the financing of each project reaching 30 thousand euros.

In total, and at this stage, the support limit of 1.5 million euros for the RESEARCH 4 COVID-19 program, which will be financed by national funds through the FCT budget. In order to be included in the initiative, projects will have to comply with some requirements and applications must be submitted by filling out a form.

From new prevention tools, therapeutic development, diagnostic methods to clinical and epidemiological studies, there are several options on the table. In addition, R&D activities that include a socio-cultural component and actions to promote a society with the capacity to face the current context of uncertainty in which we live, especially in the older population and in groups at higher risk are also included.
