Coronavirus will delay even the arrival of new emojis ??

And my friends. Even the emojis are suffering from the pandemic of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

This does not mean that we will not have new emojis being launched in 2020. As we mentioned, 117 new ones will arrive this year on Apple’s operating systems (iOS, iPadOS, macOS and watchOS).

There are actually 62 new ones – including some like a smiley face with a tear, a polar bear, a seal, bubble tea, a truck, fondue, teapot, magic wand and beetle. The remainder are variations on existing ones and include, for example, people using tuxedo and veil, variations of Santa / Mrs. Claus, etc. – these launches are part of the Emoji 13.0.

On his blog, Unicode Consortium reported that it decided to postpone the release of version 14.0 for six months – the new emojis would be presented in March 2021, but now we will only see them in September next year.

In the current circumstances, we heard that our employees are very busy at the moment and decided that it would be better for them and for organizations that depend on the standard to postpone our launch date. This year, we simply cannot commit to the same schedule that we have followed in the past.

–Mark Davis, president of the Unicode Consortium

To interested parties, the deadline for submitting suggestions for the new standard (Emoji 14.0) is also being postponed to September this year, and the consortium is deciding on the idea of a provisional release (standard 13.1), further expanding the options of version 13 .
