Competing with AirPods, Bang & Olufsen and Sony launch their truly wireless headphones

Since I started to think about it, Apple products have never been cheap. And no, I’m not talking about the Brazil scenario; abroad it has always been possible to find alternatives to Apple with more attractive prices. It’s like that with computers, smartphones, set-top boxes and even with smartwatches. But, if you have an area where Apple is doing very well in terms of product quality vs. price, is that of wireless headphones.

Ignore the Beats brand at this point and focus only on AirPods. Apple’s first truly wireless headset was launched almost a year ago, for $ 160. At the time there weren’t so many truly wireless headphones, there were only a few options like Dash, by Bragi. Since then, however, several others have emerged; this week, for example, both the Bang & Olufsen as for Sony presented their alternatives to Apple’s miniature hair dryers – both priced higher those of the Apple.

Composed of a 45-gram recharging case (with leather details) and microphone headsets (for calls and voice control), a touch-sensitive surface (with aluminum details), B&O promises great sound quality – with the right to a transparency mode, which allows you to hear both the sound of the headphones and what is happening in your surroundings.

Through the touch-sensitive surface, you can perform tasks such as pause / play, make calls, control the volume, activate the transparency mode and voice control (“Hey, Siri”). Like Dash, Beoplay E8 works with the right phone as the main and the left one as an auxiliary (so the right one has 7 grams and a 85mAh battery while the left one has 6 grams and a 60mAh battery – about 4 hours). That is, if you are going to use only one phone for some reason, it will necessarily have to be the right one.

The case has a 365mAh battery, capable of supplying the earphones with two complete recharges, and the earphone experience becomes even better when the user uses the Beoplay app. Available in two colors (black and charcoal sand), this beauty costs a small trifle of € 300 (about R $ 1,120, in direct conversion).

Sony WF-1000X Wireless Headphones

The new launch of Sony has as its main proposal the noise cancellation – something that we don’t see in AirPods. Obviously, you have the option to turn off the cancellation and listen to everything around you, and you can also choose between a normal ambient sound or an ambient sound that highlights the voices, so you do not miss any important information (if you are at an airport, for example ).

The resource Smart Listening by Adaptive Sound Control (something like Intelligent Listening through Adaptive Sound Control) automatically detects what you are doing (traveling, walking or just standing somewhere) to adjust the ambient sound settings. If you like, you can customize all of these preferences in the Sony | Headphones Connect.

Another advantage of these headphones is that they can connect to your smartphone either via Bluetooth or via NFC – on the iPhone, as NFC technology is closed, communication is via Bluetooth.

Like its competitors, the WF-1000X has a charging case that provides up to 3 recharges for the headphones, which have a battery that can last up to 3 hours.

Sony’s launch will cost $ 200 and start selling sometime in September.
