Company that sells "experiences" online invests in Portugal

LetsBonus is a Spanish online collective purchasing company that has just entered the Portuguese market, where it wants to reach around 200 thousand consumers already next year. The plans include an investment of close to half a million euros by the end of 2010 and the hiring of 15 new employees in the national territory.

The project aims to promote the online sale of «activities» at discounted prices of up to 70 percent, negotiating special conditions with suppliers in exchange for bringing advertising to a large number of potential customers – over a short period of time.

The site, for the time being only available for offers in the Lisbon region but with an expected extension to other cities, has been in operation since the beginning of this month and the company claims to have sold more than 16 thousand coupons (vouchers) for restaurants, SPAS, beauty centers, shows, weekend stays or sports activities, for example.

The company’s commercial and marketing director for Portugal highlights the business opportunity arising from the «fashion of discounts and promotions» that «is asserting itself in Portuguese society, at a time when the conjuncture seems more complicated for savings and for consumption «.

According to Feliciano Grosso, LetsBonus estimates that «more than 50 thousand Portuguese people have purchased through this type of shopping chain in the last thirty days», with «more than a third» doing so through the company’s new platform for the country.

In Spain, the company sold this year around 140 thousand coupons, in a model that offers, every day, up to four offers, with discounts that can go up to 70 percent. Customers register on the website and are informed of promotions when they become available, with a limited time to join.
