Company estimates the cost of the 32GB iPhone 7 at “only” $ 220.80

Whenever an iPhone is launched, IHS go there and make a projection (without taking into account investments / costs such as research and development, marketing, packaging, freight, etc.) of how much a smartphone unit costs for Apple. It was no different with the iPhone 7, of course.

According to the company, we are talking about the most expensive device ever produced by Ma. Taking the 32GB iPhone 7 (4.7 inch) as a base, IHS estimated the cost of the device at $ 220.80 ($ 36.00 more than the iPhone 6s, when originally launched in 2015). Of this amount, the most expensive items are: the display (US $ 39), the trio baseband/ RF / PA ($ 33.90) and the A10 Fusion chip ($ 26.90).

On the other hand, the cheapest items on the spreadsheet are glue logic (custom logic circuit; $ 1.30), the battery ($ 2.50) and the power controller ($ 7.20) speaking specifically of parts / hardware, since IHS estimates the cost of assembling the iPhone at $ 5.00.

Even though the company is spending more than $ 220.80 (taking into account all the investments and costs listed), IHS believes that Apple's profit margin is around $ 250 per unit (the device sold by US $ 649.00) and that the cost of manufacturing the iPhone is lower than that of Samsung phones even with the “significant” increase of US $ 36.00 from the iPhone 6s to the 7.

Not bad.
