The funds reserved for the financing of projects for the fourth call in the area of ​​Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) of the Sixth Framework Program will be mostly to be allocated to proposals aimed at research in the mobile and wireless systems sector, he said. the European Commission.

With the 151 million euros that he will award to mobile technologies, the European executive intends to encourage research in the protection of communication systems and personal data against cybercrime, while aiming to ensure Europe’s leadership in core technologies for the knowledge economy .

The amount invested by the EC in the mobile sector represents about 15 percent of the total funds involved in the fourth ICT call in these projects. In addition to the 151 million euros, another 83 million euros are also reserved for 24 projects targeting the health area using technology and a further 91 million euros for 22 road safety projects.

The fourth call from the Information and Communication Technologies area also provides for a financing of 73 million euros for projects aimed at improving services online and in particular that allow the Internet to advance to a network wireless that supports complete mobility, interactive television and second generation 3G mobile technology.

The remaining funds will be divided into areas such as nano-electronics, audio-visual systems and advanced teaching technology.
