Co-founder of developer Panic was a victim of the attack on HandBrake servers; app codes are stolen

As proof that even advanced users can sometimes suffer from online attacks, the co-founder of the famous developer Panic revealed a few days ago that he was affected by the invasion of the utility's servers HandBrake.

Steven Frank he said that he had the bad luck to download the app in the period of three days when his download files were compromised by malware and that, as a result, the source codes of some Panic apps were stolen.

In the post published on Panic's own blog, Frank guaranteed that no information from Panic customers was captured, much less data from the Panic Sync service.

The biggest concern at this point is the possibility that crackers will compile compromised versions of Panic apps (like the Coda code editor or the Transmit FTP client) and distribute them over there. Obviously, in this case only people who worry about apps pirates do not download apps directly from the Mac App Store or from the official website of the developer.

As far as possible, Panic is working with Apple and even the FBI on the case, since the crackers are blackmailing the company. Still, be alert.
