Clothing market grew 30% despite the pandemic, according to IDC

The market for wearable devices such as smartwatches and smartbands had a 30% growth compared to last year, according to data released by IDC (International Data Corporation). According to the analyzes, sales in the wearables in the first quarter of 2020 were 72.6 million units, this counting only with the half year result. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the social distance and delay in the production of some smart devices did not affect the segment's global shipments.

The information shows that the Apple sent 21.2 million units of smart wearable devices to the market, 59.9% more compared to 2019. The company alone achieved a 29.3% market share. Xiaomi has already shipped 10.1 million units, an increase of 56.4% over the previous year. The Chinese brand's market share was in second place, with 14.0%.

In the third place in the clothing market comes the Korean manufacturer Samsung, with a shipment of 8.6 million units and an increase of 71.7% in relation to last year. The brand's market share closed at 11.9%. Huawei had a close share of Samsung, 11.1%. In the first half of 2020, the brand shipped 8.1 million units, an increase of 62.2% over 2019.
