The most popular names in Brazil in 2018 were Enzo Gabriel, Miguel and Arthur. The data, released on Thursday (27), were compiled in the country's 7,732 Civil Registry Offices and released on the new Transparency Portal website. On the platform, it is possible to filter the names by location, month and year, since 2015. There is also information on weddings and birthdays on a basis that has over 125 million records. The information made available on the new Portal (www.registrocivil.org.br) includes more than 2 million and 760 thousand birth records carried out until December 21st. The survey shows that 348,861 different names were chosen, with wide variation in spelling. About 28% of the total are compound names. Interestingly, 3,027 variations were identified for the name Maria, 2,320 for Pedro, 1,564 for Ana, 1,488 for Enzo and 1,260 for Joo.
From 2018, the most registered names, the number of births, weddings, birthdays and CPFs will be available on the website. Another accessible service is Searching for Unknown Persons, which should help to find missing persons and registered as destitute.
The Portal also allows you to request birth, marriage and death certificates for any Brazilian carrier free of charge. The printed document can be received at home or picked up at the nearest prison. The digital version can arrive by email, and have the same validity as the original.
