Chromebooks saw very strong growth in 2013, stealing slice of MacBooks

Taking advantage of the end of the year, the NPD Group published a survey showing the sales performance of computing devices as a whole (desktops, notebooks and tablets disregarding only smartphones and, it is worth noting, encompassing only sales through pre-configured commercial channels) in 2013 when compared to 2012, in the United States.

Here is the general graph:

As you can see, the biggest growth in the year occurred in Chromebooks, Android tablets and Windows tablets.

Chromebooks snapped up 21% of all notebook sales, certainly stealing a bit of the MacBook market. Although iPads are selling more and more in units, their overall share also fell from last year thanks to manufacturers like Samsung.

Speaking of manufacturers, here is the updated ranking:

Considering the American market as a whole, 14.4 million units of computing devices were sold in the period, a wonderful growth of 25.4% compared to last year.
