Chinese TV Realme with 55-inch QLED screen to be released soon

Madhav Sheth, Realme's CEO, recently revealed in an interview that the Chinese company would launch its first TVs in the second quarter of 2020 and now it appears that the launch in India is closer than previously thought.

Certification information for one of the company's TVs was discovered on the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) website. According to the listing on the website, Realme's TV model number JSC55LSQLED. The 55 in the model number probably indicates that it is 55 inches and the QLED indicates that it should make use of this technology for its screen.

For those who don't know, TVs with QLED technology offer better image quality than those with LCD panels. The problem is that QLED technology also has a higher cost, which makes TVs based on it more expensive.

Currently Xiaomi TVs use IPS LCD panels, while OnePlus TVs also use QLED technology. Because of that, OnePlus TVs are more expensive than Xiaomi TVs. Now that it is practically confirmed that Realme TVs will use QLED technology, it is likely that they will be launched in India to compete directly with models from OnePlus and not with those from Xiaomi.

Usually, companies send their products for certification when their development is in the final stages. So, considering that Realme's TV has already started receiving certifications from Indian agencies, its launch in the country seems to be imminent.
