CES 2021 is still scheduled to take place in person in Las Vegas

THE CES 2021 still has plans to happen in its traditional format, in person in Las Vegas, as reported by The Verge. While the most optimistic hope that the quarantine will not last until the second half of 2020, more feasible forecasts show that, at the very least, precautions against the new coronavirus must still be taken for a long time to come. Still, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), has not announced plans to change the CES format.

This year's CES was one of the only major technology events that still managed to happen, escaping quarantine before the HIV epidemic. COVID-19 move up the scale and become a pandemic. The CES 2021 announcement still in person was made there in May, on the 7th, but it seems to have been "beaten" by most people. CTA is promising security policies like hygiene stations, in addition to promising that it will regularly clean and sterilize spaces. The guidelines also mention encouraging the use of masks, but do not state that it will be a requirement, leaving the printout to be optional.

But the measures may be insufficient for an event that has as its main characteristic the accumulation of thousands of people, putting their hands on the most diverse gadgets, after all the "hands-on" is the great star of CES.

Only a few "essential" workers will return between June and July

Meanwhile, other major technology companies have delayed their events and extended preventive measures against the pandemic. Google no longer intends to have face-to-face work until the end of 2020 and Microsoft does not intend to hold traditional events at July 2021.

CTA announced CES 2021 a while ago, so plans may change. Even though the quarantine is suspended until the next month of January, it may be that most people are not yet ready to face agglomerations, which would be a detriment to the event. Let's stay tuned to see new announcements about the fair.
