Today, the Raspberry Pi Foundation, the company responsible for the creation and development of the Raspberry, revealed, with two days to go before its eighth birthday, a novelty for low-cost computer fans. The fourth generation of the mini PC in its 2GB version will not cost another US $ 45, but US $ 35, the same price charged for the 1GB version! Who informed about the surprise was the CEO of the British company, Eben Upton.
Price drop was due to drop in RAM memory price
According to Eben, the price decrease was due to the drop in RAM memory prices. Is it fairer for the company to pass on this drop in costs to the consumer, right? After all, the Raspberry Pi was created just to be a low cost PC and at the same time offer a good performance (depending on the activity performed).
Saturday is our eighth – or possibly our second – birthday, and falling RAM prices have allowed us to drop the price of the 2GB Raspberry Pi 4 to $ 35 to celebrate. More from Eben at https://t.co/eGDHzgwX0c pic.twitter/aSI4m7d9Eq

The Raspberry Pi 4 was the first generation to offer 3 options of RAM (1GB, 2GB and 4GB). Initially the amounts charged for RAM capacities were US $ 35, US $ 45 and US $ 55 respectively.
Eben said the price cut on the 2GB model would be permanent, but continue to make the 1GB model available for $ 35 to industrial and commercial customers. The 4GB model will continue to cost $ 55. According to the Raspberry CEO:
"As there is no price advantage over the 2 GB product, we expect that most users will opt for the larger memory variant"
Raspberry Pi Foundation publishes memes on Twitter to make fun of the Raspberry Pi 4 price drop
After the announcement of the price drop of the 2GB version of the Raspberry Pi 4, the company posted on its official Twitter account two images of memes making fun of it. Check it out below:
