Price drop was due to drop in RAM memory price
According to Eben, the price decrease was due to the drop in RAM memory prices. Is it fairer for the company to pass on this drop in costs to the consumer, right? The Raspberry Pi 4 was the first generation to offer 3 options of RAM (1GB, 2GB and 4GB). Initially the amounts charged for RAM capacities were US $ 35, US $ 45 and US $ 55 respectively.
Eben said the price cut on the 2GB model would be permanent, but continue to make the 1GB model available for $ 35 to industrial and commercial customers. The 4GB model will continue to cost $ 55. According to the Raspberry CEO:
"As there is no price advantage over the 2 GB product, we expect that most users will opt for the larger memory variant"

The Raspberry Pi was originally launched on February 29, 2012. According to Eben, more than 30 million Raspberry Pi have been sold to date (the number of 30 million was reached in December last year).
