Canon Introduces Clock Camera and Other Concept Products at CES 2020

We live in a world where every smartphone has at least one camera, and one of the companies that has been affected by this marketing factor is Canon. Like Nikon, the company faces continued financial declines and is seeking renewals to maintain its market relevance.

During the CES 2020, the company took the opportunity to show some of its new product concepts, which are aimed at the young audience and can help the company recover its numbers and grow again in the market. The cameras follow different formats and usability, with the main highlight being the clock image capture devices.

During the fair, the manufacturer revealed two concepts of clock-shaped camera. Both models feature strap-shaped bracelets, which allow you not only to wear on your wrist, but also to attach the accessory to your backpack, for example.

Another concept shown by Canon a compact camera approximately 13 centimeters that has modular lenses. The device can capture wide-angle, telephoto and macro shots. The design of the accessory in operation also resembles a pocket knife, as shown below.

Finally, Canon also exhibited an augmented reality-oriented product: an arc that can be placed around the neck that has sensors for capturing first-person perspective images.

As all products are still concepts, Canon has not given details about the price of each device and also does not guarantee that the models will hit the market. However, investing in differentiated capture systems is one way for the company to try to turn around in times of crisis.

Last year, a number of the company's experimental cameras were leaked and some of the gadgets eventually appeared at CES 2020. With that in mind, it may be that the manufacturer will eventually bring the devices to market and the presentation isn't just a tech show.
