Canaccord Genuity: no one will reach the iPad in 2011; infographic shows who can try

In a note released today to his customers, T. Michael Walkley predicted the sale of 20 million iPads in 2010 and more than double that next year, 55 million. The Canaccord Genuity analyst also believes that no competitor will be able to repeat the success of the Apple tablet.

Although we expect many launches of Android-based devices during Q4 / 10 and 2011, we believe that these tablets may struggle to sell themselves compared to the iPad. We believe there is some level of confusion () about the ability of Android 2.2 (codenamed Froyo) to run successfully on tablets. In fact, (no one at Google knows how to clarify) if Android 3.0 (codenamed Gingerbread) be designed specifically for tablets.

Walkley also wrote that manufacturers may face difficulties to follow the standard (or lack thereof) in Android updates. Such an obstacle already begins in the first generation of tablets, with several manufacturers ready to produce the hardware, but without available software.

He just doesn't foresee Google bragging about having Android installed on cradle-sized hardware gadgets.

We can also publish here a table made by Canaccord, but as it was super inspired and we found this infographic by Section Design signed by Paul Butt, we imagine that it would be a fantastic substitute.
