Business Insider predicts success in the future of Apple Watch, but Fitbit's CEO has something to say about it

Sometimes we like to exaggerate things a little, to be a little too pessimistic, but the truth is that, for the Apple Watch, the future a sunny field. At least what the Business Insider, in its new report on the smartwatch market.

New colors / bracelets for Apple Watches

According to the respected economic analysis firm, in 2020 Apple's watch will account for 40% of the luxury watch market (not just smartwatches, to be clear), that is, those that cost more than $ 350. To support this somewhat bold prediction, the report states that there is growing interest in the Apple Watch among traditional watch owners 27% of them have already stated that the (many) extra features of the Apple watch appeal to them.

There are also, according to the Business Insider, a drop in interest in the market in so-called fitness bracelets in favor of smartwatches, which incorporate the functions of body reading and add many other features. Within the wearable device market, the share of wristbands fell from 53% in 2014 to an estimated 48% this year, and is expected to fall further, to 42%, in 2020.

They are discouraging news for the world of physical activity trackers, but it certainly will not silence its main figures. The CEO of Fitbit the leading brand in the segment, James Park, made not so positive statements about the Apple Watch in a report by New York Times.

Fitbit Flex

Park says his company's strategy to escape the frightening shadow of Apple takes a completely different approach: while Ma (and its competitors) watches try to do a little bit of everything, Fitbit tries to focus on doing one thing very well. . And he believes he is on the right track:

We look at this from a consumer point of view. The Apple Watch is a computing platform, but this is a very wrong way to approach the category from the beginning.

The report by NYT, an interesting overview of the scenario of Fitbit and the market for tracking bracelets in general, includes another passage that talks about Apple, this time in a slightly more positive way. According to Park, the launch of the iPhone 4s inspired a complete reinvention of the company's products: from there, all Fitbits were redesigned with Bluetooth and the ability to synchronize in real time with smartphones in mind the 4s was the first iPhone to incorporate Bluetooth. 4.0, capable of connecting to peripherals using low battery.
