THE Bose unveiled its new line of smart speakers and soundbars. The launch marks the company’s insertion in the smart speakers like Bose Home Speaker 500, which has support for Amazon’s virtual assistant (Alexa) and AirPlay 2 (compatibility that will only arrive next year).
The smart speaker and the soundbars use a new technology in the eight internal microphones to assimilate commands even with high frequency of sounds in the environment; in addition, they have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections.
Bose Home Speaker 500
According to the company, the Bose Home Speaker 500 has the best sound dissipation among the smart speakers available today. Available in white and black, it has an aluminum finish, measures approximately 20 centimeters in height and uses two drivers personalized (pointed in opposite directions) so that the sound is separated between instrumental and voice, as the music was created by the artist. In addition to voice commands, the speaker has touch controls located on the top surface of the device and a front display that does not control, but displays the music playing.
While the Bose Home Speaker 500 has eight internal microphones, the HomePod has “only” six – that allow you to assimilate commands through Siri even when a song is loud. In addition, the HomePod measures about 17 centimeters in height, making the Bose option slightly larger. Like the Bose speaker, the HomePod also has a “display” (however at the top, which displays Siri’s speech in the waveform when a command is received).
Bose did not comment on a date for the arrival of AirPlay 2 support on the Home Speaker 500, just pointing out that the feature will be made available in “early 2019”. Meanwhile, Sonos’ latest speakers received support for Apple’s protocol last month, allowing owners of these devices to already enjoy such integration.
Bose Soundbar 500 and Soundbar 700
Regarding the new soundbars, a Soundbar 500 and Soundbar 700, the only difference between the two models is the size: the Soundbar 500 is just under 5cm high and 80cm long, while the Soundbar 700 is 5cm high and 1m long. Inside, both are equipped with Bose technology PhaseGuides, which sends multiple channels of the same song or soundtrack so that the sound, even the least frequently, reaches all places in the environment.
