Users of Android phones can find fun GIFs on their phones through a collection built into messengers already used on a daily basis. This without having to fill the space by downloading extra applications, or wasting time searching the images on the internet. WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Telegram offer this internal feature, with simple access.

It is possible to search for keywords using titles of series, films, sports, emotions or even the name of your favorite actor, with support for Portuguese. The tip helps to liven up the conversation with friends or groups, to go beyond texts and emojis. Google’s GBoard keyboard also allows you to find GIFs, compatible with the three messengers. Step 1. First we will explain how to find the GIF search built into WhatsApp. Open the messenger app on Android, then find a conversation with your friend in the group. On the chat screen, touch the emoticon icon with «happy face».

Step 2. At the bottom of the emoji tab, tap the «GIF» button. The most popular animations currently in the app will be displayed on the screen.

Step 3. Do a search using the «magnifying glass» button, typing in a key term. When you find the perfect GIF, tap the image to enlarge. The animation will be played and it will be possible to add a caption to the message. To send, select the green arrow.

Step 1. Find a conversation with a friend or Messenger group. Then tap the «happy face» emoji in the bar to type messages. A tab will open at the bottom of the application. Now, just tap «GIF» to access the most popular animations recently.

Step 2. Use the «Search» bar to find GIFs with specific themes. Then just touch the image to send in the conversation with your group or friend.

Step 1. Telegram also offers an internal search for GIFs but not all users know this because the function is hidden in a code. To find out, open a conversation with a friend or group. Then, type the shortcut «@ gif» (without quotes) and put a space in the text. Telegram will activate a search for animated images, showing the most popular ones at the top.

Step 2. Do a search for a specific topic, typing the word right after the command «@gif» (as in the example below). Touch the GIF to expand on the screen and confirm sharing in the conversation under «Send».

If you already use the official Google keyboard on your Android, know that it has access to a collection of GIFs, compatible for sending in messengers like WhatsApp, Messenger and Telegram. Finding the animations and sending them in the conversation is much simpler that way, since you only need to decorate a path.

Step 1. Open a conversation with your friend or group in a compatible messenger. Then tap the text field, as if you were typing a message for the person. The Gboard virtual keyboard will be expanded at the bottom of the screen. Select the «Happy Face» emoji. Then tap «GIF» to show the animations.

Step 2. Gboard already offers quick theme suggestions, such as «Beat here», «clap your hands», «cool», «yes», «make a toast» and «hugs» GIFs. To see the animations in each theme, just tap on one of the options. Even your «recent use» GIFs are stored, in the first category, so you don’t waste time searching again. At the top there is a «Search GIFs» bar, to find your favorite topic by keyword. To send in the conversation, just touch the image.
