According to a study by the F-Secure organization, there are 5,033 malicious applications that could affect Android devices. The registration, organized in the second quarter of 2012, registered a 67% increase in the number of malware compared to the previous quarter.

During the period, the appearance of 19 new malware families, as well as 21 new variations of previously existing viruses (mostly related to the OpFake and FakeInst trojans) were also recorded.

According to Ascold Szymanskyj, F-Secure's vice president of sales and operations in Latin America, the increase in malware results in the growth of the device market more. After all, the more users are present on the network, the greater the chances of a scam working.
