The beta 1 version of Office 12 is now available in Portugal, for a group of selected customers and partners, according to what was announced by Microsoft in a press release. Presented last November, this is the technical version of the product that the giant of the software intends to launch in the second half of 2006 and that should integrate the future version of the Windows operating system, Windows Vista.
The new version of Office introduces a set of features through which Microsoft intends to show a major advance in terms of productivity, collaboration and efficiency in the business processes of companies and info-workers.
Among the main features of Office 12 will be the new interface and design, a new graphics and diagrams engine and the continued commitment to open standards through Microsoft Office Open XML formats, which allows data interoperability, better data management files, as well as support and facilitate data recovery and file size reduction.
Along with the release of the Office 12 beta, Microsoft Portugal also started an advertising campaign for Office 2003, based on the concept «Microsoft Office has evolved. What about you?». «This campaign is part of the launch plan for the new Office and aims to reflect the profound change that the new version of this application system intends to make in terms of the way people and companies work,» says Microsoft in the statement.
