Believe it or not: “iPod” is ahead of “Apple Watch” in internet searches

THE Apple Watch is on the rise. After five years without launching a new product / entering a new market, Ma's watch arrived with everything. Even almost two months after the launch, it is still very difficult to acquire one the company simply sells everything it produces.

Taking all this into account, can we imagine that searches for "Apple Watch" on the internet are exploding, right? So be amazed by this information: according to analyst Andy Hargreaves, from Pacific Crest, interest in the Apple watch (at least speaking specifically about searches) is lower than for the iPod!

Search by terms

Hard to believe, isn't it? While the Apple Watch is something totally new and still has a long way to go, the iPod is practically being buried by Apple (it doesn't even appear on the menu on Ma's website, for example). Still, apparently the search for him on the bigger internet. Does this have an explanation?

Hargreaves did not comment on anything, but my pitacos are:

  1. Many people still have to look for the term "iWatch" instead of "Apple Watch". For many months everyone thought that would be the name of the Apple watch and, even today, many call it that.
  2. Were the searches being influenced in any way by names with two words? That would also explain something.
  3. Finally, I believe that some also seek only the term “Watch”, forgetting to put “Apple” in front of them, which also impacts the search result.

As much as the graph shows us that searches for the term “iPod” are greater, something very hard to believe taking into account up to the timing of all this (we are still experiencing the post-launch of the product).
