Paul McCartney confirmed that the agreement that would allow the publication of the complete catalog of the British group’s songs on the iTunes store has been suspended.

Speaking to Billboard, the musician explains that EMI officials have not reached a consensus with Apple Corp, so the agreement should not go ahead.

The digitization of the Beatles’ music has been negotiated for years but the band is «too emblematic» to rush deals with iTunes, he said, saying «when something is as big as the Beatles, negotiations are tougher».

Editor’s Note: The news was corrected to remove the Apple link that wrongly pointed to the computer manufacturer and not to Apple Corp.
